WHAT IS THE ROUND TABLE The Round Table was initiated in 1992 by the World Council of Churches and the Russian Orthodox Church. It is an ecumenical forum involving as partners the World Council of Churches Program Unit IV "Sharing and Service", interchurch aid agencies outside Russia and the Russian Orthodox Church, with other Churches in Russia to be involved in prospect. The Russian Orthodox Church has participated in the Round Table through various church organizations, institutions and initiatives acting at various levels. It is represented by bishops, clerics and lay people including women and youth. The Round Table is an instrument through which religious education and diakonia are promoted in Russia on the basis of concrete programs and projects. It is the first experience of cooperation in this field between the Russian Orthodox Church, the World Council of Churches and interchurch aid agencies. ROUND TABLE PROJECTS
